Effective October 1, 2014, transit fares are changing in Port Alberni. Cash fares will all be $2. Having one fare for all helps eliminate the most common negative operator and customer interactions, fare disputes.
While cash fares are going up $.25 for adults and $.50 for seniors and students, long-term fare products like 10 ticket bundles and monthly pass continue to provide deep discounts for regular transit users.
Adult tickets (10) will cost $15.75 or $1.58 a ride. Senior and student tickets (10) are $13.50 or $1.35 a trip.
Adult monthly passes remain unchanged at $48, while senior and youth monthly passes are $25.
DayPASS, which allows for unlimited transit travel in a single day, will also be one price at $4.25.
The last fare change in Port Alberni was in 2003.
