Beloved Brother and Uncle George Elmo Ferguson

Sherwood Park, Alberta — 

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brother and Uncle George Elmo Ferguson on June 28 at the age of 92.  George passed away peacefully at Sunrise Village in Camrose, Alberta, his home for the last five years.  George was a much loved teacher who gave his students unconditional love and acceptance.  Born in Tofield, Alberta on March 4, 1924, George began his teaching career in Tofield at Lakeshore School.  He received his Bachelor of Education degree from the U of A in Edmonton, and his degree in Speech and Drama from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.  He also attended the Banff School of Fine Arts on a scholarship.  George taught in Manitoba, in British Columbia at Ahousaht, and at several schools in Alberta, including Wabasca, Hobbema, and Boyle.  He and his students received many awards in speech and elocution at provincial festivals.  George is survived by his brother Charles Ferguson of St. Albert, his brother Frank of Lethbridge and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Elmo and Anna Ferguson, and his brothers Eddie and Lorne.  “Uncle George” will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

Funeral and Interment will be held Thursday July 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Sherwood Park Alberta – 52356 Range Road 232.  In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the children’s charity of your choice.
