Accounts Payable Assistant

The NTC Finance Department is seeking a temporary, full-time Accounts Payable Assistant (in a predominately paperless environment), to work from our main office in Port Alberni.  The Accounts Payable Assistant assists in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payment documents such as purchase orders, travel reimbursements, and any other accounting transactions related to accounts payable (A/P) management.  This position provides for the consistent application of accounting procedures and principles in accordance with NTC’s financial policies and processes. 


Responsibilities Include:

• Receive A/P and related documents from vendors and NTC Departments
• Download invoices from various suppliers’ websites
• Review incoming documents for accuracy and completeness
• Electronically file purchase orders and match purchase orders to invoices
• Reconcile discrepancies and resolve any vendors’ invoicing issues
• Prepare PDF documents by electronically affixing stamps and signatures
• Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintain digital and paper filing, maintain record systems, faxing and photocopying • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records
• Becomes familiar and complies with NTC HR Policies including adherence to NTC's guidelines and safety protocols for COVID19 prevention


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Grade 12/GED with some knowledge of accounting procedures and principles • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro, competent in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs and comfortable in the use of Zoom and Social Media web platforms • Be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written • Possess a high level of integrity and be trustworthy
    • Self-motivated and proactive
    • Possess a valid BC Driver’s License and have daily access to reliable vehicle
    • Provide references and an acceptable criminal record check

Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience: salary range $35,000 - $46,000 annually.
