The BOARDWALK is responsible for maintenance of trail/boardwalk, use alternative methods where applicable and assemble boardwalk along West Coast Trail.

General Responsibilities (but not limited to):
• Hiker Interaction
• Boardwalk assembly
• Boardwalk extraction and removal
• Alternative trail building methods

Specific Responsibilities (but not limited to):
The following outlines specific responsibilities related to this position.
• Hiker Interaction
- Update hikers on trail conditions
- Update hikers on new boardwalk put in
- Assist Parks Canada staff when needed
• Boardwalk Assembly
- Assemble Boardwalk with materials provided by Parks Canada
- Ensure that all measurements adhere to Parks Canada specs
- Cut materials to size using tools provided
• Boardwalk Extraction and removal
- Ensure that old boardwalk is cut apart and moved off trail
- Ensure that all excess material from old and new is moved off trail
- Ensure there are no hazards from old material (nails, chards) left on trail
• Alternative Trail Building
- Remove all brush that impedes access to trail
- Cut and install punchins on trail
- Ensure that proper drainage is in place where needed on trail
