Community Based Research Coordinator

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a temporary (1-year with the possibility of an extension) part-time Community Based Research Coordinator. This position is a member of the NTC Health Department, and is under the general supervision of the Manager of Nursing Services. This position will have frequent contact and collaboration with the Project Manager, who reports to the Project’s Nominated Principal Investigator. The position will oversee the four community-based coordinators and potential data collectors.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Support the project leads in overall planning and coordination of project objectives, providing administrative / research support to team members as needed
  • Support the administration of community-based activities
  • Support the recruitment and liaising of new team members
  • Support the recording and dissemination of meeting minutes to the team
  • Administer community budgets and support in the writing of relevant financial reports
  • Support the development of project communication briefs
  • Collaborate with the community staff to help engage community participation
  • Ensure confidentiality and privacy in accordance with professional regulatory guidelines


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree relevant to public health (including Indigenous people’s health) and at least 2 years of work experience in project management; including budgeting, planning and coordination
  • A clear understanding of working with First Nations communities and in Indigenous peoples’ health research practices
  • Knowledge of grant management and reporting processes
  • Familiarity with BC’s Emergency Services in rural / remote communities an asset
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of allied professionals, community leaders, and First Nation knowledge keepers and/or Elders
  • Competence with word, excel and computer software relevant to project management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Capable of flexible hours and traveling to remote communities when necessary
  • Possess a valid BC Driver’s License and have daily access to reliable vehicle
  • Provide an acceptable criminal background check

Competitive benefit package; $28.20 – $34.87 per hour.
