Healthy Babies Group Assistant

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Child & Youth Services Department is seeking a term, 0.6-time Healthy Babies Group Assistant. This position is for back-fill purposes and is a key resource to support the Early Years Outreach Worker in the delivery of the Health Babies groups. Based out of Ucluelet (Hitacu) the Healthy Babies Group Assistant will be integral to the efficient utilization of services, increasing the health of all community members, and increasing the capacity of the local community to take charge of their health care resources and services.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Meet with Early Years Outreach Worker to discuss program needs, assist with reports and evaluations, and to advise regarding resource requirement
  • Meets with the coordinator to plan schedule for weekly drop-in and is responsible for preparation of the drop-ins
  • Purchase drop in snacks, and other program supplies
  • Maintains resource library for material at drop-in and client use
  • Responsible for marketing the program
  • Attends program events and meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or GED completion plus experience working within a First Nations community
  • Possess networking skills to create strong community connection, and understanding of the importance of working with First Nations protocols
  • Able to act with tact, meet deadlines, and maintain productive working relationships with families and Aboriginal partners
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative team relationships
  • Possess a high level of initiative is needed to work independently
  • Capable of working extra hours whenever necessary
  • Provide acceptable references and criminal record check
  • Must have a car, valid driver’s license, and able to travel to NTC Southern Region Communities
