Tsunami Virtual Exhibit

The Alberni Valley Museum, in partnership with ADSS and Doublesteep Productions, is pleased to announce the launch of a new and exciting project to produce a virtual exhibit.  This on-line exhibit is being created for the Virtual Museum of Canada and will tell a unique story of the Port Alberni Tsunami in 1964.

Student volunteers from ADSS, will be interviewing people in the community who experienced the effects of the Tsunami.  Their stories will be used to create the on-line exhibit .

The Tsunami Virtual Exhibit project is made possible through a grant the AV Museum received from the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN).  The Tsunami exhibit will be part of a national online portrait of Canada’s history.

Stay tuned! This project will be completed and ready for viewing in the Spring of 2012 .

If you experienced the 1964 Tsunami and have a story to tell, please contact the Education Curator at the Alberni Valley Museum 250 720 2523.
