Sooke, BC

Sooke Slow Food Cycle (SSFC) will be hosting the second annual cycle tour and Collective Transition: a Sustainability Expo and Marketplace. This non-profit, volunteer-run community event is designed to inspire, educate and entertain anyone interested in creating greener, more sustainable home, life and workstyles.

Where: Edward Milne Community School, 6218 Sooke Road, Sooke, BC, V9Z1J1

When: Sunday, September 23, 2012:  9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The day’s activities on Sunday, Sept. 23 feature three interrelated and complimentary events:

i) the Sooke Slow Food Cycle tour, is a 33 km bike tour of Sooke featuring 18 workshops along the way designed to increase awareness of sustainable food options.

ii) the Collective Transition: Sustainability Expo & Marketplace, a mini demonstration expo  featuring the Quiet Revolution that is making our homes and gardens greener than ever.  Reduce your carbon footprint by learning how to shop fresh and local. Begin at the SSFC Marketplace

iii) Harvest feast at Sunriver Community Garden. Experience gourmet prepared cuisine like you have never tasted before in an atmosphere that is unexpected – in the middle of a garden!  This takes community gardening to a whole new level.

Included in the day’s activities is access to alternate modes of transportation that complement the Quiet Revolution of sustainability.  Schedule some time to ride an electric bicycle or cargo bike or take a spin in an electric car.
