There’s a new opportunity for pre-natal parents on the coast to get together for a good time, good food and good information.
Family Ties in Ucluelet and Tofino is beginning a monthly session tailored to pre-natal parents where a simple nutritious recipe is presented, made and a topic of interest is discussed. All the recipe ingredients are supplied and everyone makes enough to take some home! The sessions are facilitated by the Family Ties outreach workers and it’s an opportunity for expectant moms to ask questions of them and have contact with the Public Health Nurse too.
The first pre-natal drop-ins were held the first week of October, and will be held the first week of every month. In Ucluelet, that’s Tuesday mornings 10:30 to noon and in Tofino that’s Thursdays 10:30 to noon. All expectant moms are welcome, no referral is necessary.
Post-natal parents who regularly come to Family Ties are welcome to come at the close of the pre-natal session to pick up coupons or see the nurse, or to drop in during the week.
All expectant parents on the coast need to travel for birth services; that adds to the level of planning and preparation necessary. This is a chance to talk about common concerns with other parents and to hear the latest in pre-natal information.
