A Nuu-chah-nulth man stabbed in an altercation on the 3100 block of Third Avenue in Port Alberni is recovering in Victoria General Hospital.
A family member confirms that the 47-year-old male has been stabilized and is alert but resting.
The names of the victim and his family member are being withheld pending notification of other family.
According to the Port Alberni RCMP they received a call on February 6, 2014 at 8:10 pm. They found the injured male lying on the sidewalk with injuries to his face and stomach.
The man was transported by ambulance to West Coast General Hospital then flown out for further medical attention.
Police believe this was not a random act and are currently conducting an investigation that requires the public's assistance.
