The B.C. government has received the final report from Wally Oppal, QC, commissioner of a public inquiry examining the police investigations into missing and murdered women in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
The inquiry's findings and recommendations will be released to the public in mid-December.
The process for releasing the commission's 1,448-page report is mandated by the Public Inquiry Act. The work of all public inquiries in B.C., including the steps leading to the release of the report, is guided by the terms of the Public Inquiry Act.
The report will be made public once government meets the requirements of the Public Inquiry Act and the commission completes printing the five-volume report aimed at improving the safety and security of vulnerable women in
British Columbia.
