The Interagency Coalition on AIDS and Development is recruiting Aboriginal youth for internships in Jamaica and Uganda. The internships are 6 months in duration, with 2 months in Canada and 4 months overseas. In order to be eligible for these positions, applicants must be:
- legally entitled to work in Canada
- between the ages of 18-35
- have a secondary school diploma or GEC equivalency
- be of Aboriginal ancestry
Note: youthcurrently enrolled in university studies, or in possession of a college diploma or university degree, are not eligible for these internships.
The deadline of October 13thhas been extended and will be open until the positions are filled.
ICAD has received funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to provide five Canadian Aboriginal youths with international internships. The International Aboriginal Youth Internship (IAYI) initiative will provide First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth an opportunity to experience international development work overseas. The selection and orientation/reintegration of interns will be conducted in partnership with the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN). Four interns will be placed in Jamaica with the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVC) and one intern will be based in Uganda with CAP AIDS/CAP AIDS Uganda.
